Pakistan government, its institutes are violating human rights in Balochistan

Occupied Balochistan: Calling government’s claims of releasing missing persons a “lie”, the Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP), an organisation striving for safe recovery of missing persons, staged a protest demonstration outside the Quetta Press Club on Monday.

Women and children whose loved ones are missing took part in the protest.

According to chairman VBMP Nasurallah Baloch, security forces had whisked away 10 family members of Habib Marri –who was killed in March last year- following a raid on his house on March 1 in Saryab Mill area. “The forces violated the sanctity of his home and harassed the women,” he accused, adding that as many as 60 fresh cases of missing person were reported in 2012 in Balochistan alone.

The protesters chanted slogans against the government and its institutes, accusing them of violating human rights in Balochistan.

“On the one hand we are receiving mutilated dead bodies and more people are subjected to enforced disappearances while on the other hand government is making high claims that they have released many missing persons. This is a lie,” he said.

VBMP also alleged that 10 women were listed missing from Balochistan this year.

Sister of Balkh Sher Marri, who was picked up along with ten members of his family from Saryab Mill area of Quetta, said forces also took away three children. “If my brother and other family members are involved in any crime then they should be tried in court. All we want is justice,” she said.

VBMP called upon International humanitarian organisations and United Nations to use their influence and play their role for safe recovery of all Baloch missing persons.

Large number of Baloch activists staged a demonstration in London in front of US Embassy on Sunday 4th March 2012 to express their gratitude to three American Congressmen, Dana Rohrabacher, Louie Gohmert and Steve King who tabled a bill before the US Congress in Feb in support of an independent Balochistan and human rights of Baloch people.

Several speakers from different parties spoke and expressed their thanks to the Congressmen and demanded international intervention in Balochistan.

According to the Islamic faith, we have kept in view of our Baloch movement, we have come today at this point, and we are going to completely support the Balochistan independent movement. Because Allah Tallah gave all rights of freedom to all human beings, if the occupiers and oppressors are in a Muslim state, struggle is still obligatory against them.

Pakistan has been found based on Islam but it never becomes an Islamic country, instead it is damaging the Islam.

He said, "when the Lal Musjid in (capital city of Pakistan, Islamabad) was destroyed we did not see existence of any Defai –e- Pakistan Council organization".

Shafiq Mengal and Siraj are being used by Pakistani secret agencies. They are calling martyred innocent Baloch youth and families infidels. Which is completely unislamic because in Hadees Sharref in holy hadith of prophet (PBUM) said, ``calling another Muslim infidels itself is a non - Islamic act``.

In Islam it will be considered a sin because in the past our few fellows against former Soviet Union (USSR) were involved in Jehad but that time our holy warriors accepted full financial backing and training from the United States of America. That time, they stated they wanted help, whoever is going to offer. It was a famous saying from holy warriors, at least American are Aal –e- kitab (Christians) we should get their support because former Soviet Union (USSR) is an atheist.

But, "China is even worst atheist then former (USSR), and China is strongly against Islam. Then, why Pakistan is sitting on the lap of China. Pakistan is a state that has no love to Islam; he is using Islam for its unjust means".

He said the United States of America has not been supporting the independence of Balochistan but it is providing (Pakistan) weapons and those weapons of the United States of America are being used against Baloch people.

If few representatives from United States of America decided based on humanity and supporting Balochistan independent movement, then there is nothing wrong with it, says Baloch Religious Scholars Movement Spokesperson.

He said, "our eyes are now open, because our own homeland (Balochistan) is burning. According to Islam, we have to free our own homeland first then we should think for others".

If Defai - e - Pakistan Council, announces Jehad against the freedom seekers of Baloch people, they should remember between war of Imam Hussein and Yazid, both side were Muslims. But, one side was fighting for just and other was for unjust cause. In this war (Baloch freedom fighter are for just) and Allah Tallah (God) will make its decision.

Inshallah, "if it is God’s will`` our homeland will soon be free and our mothers and sister’s honours will be protected".

As a religious scholar he stated that according to the Islam, all Baloch are martyred.

He said, the beloved prophet (PBUM) once Sahab UL – Keram traveled towards Habs while Habs was a non Muslim country that time then Sahab UL – Keram traveled towards Nanjashi where they asked for protection.

He said, "If the great Islamic conqueror Sahab UL Keram can shelter a non Islamic state then why (Baloch leaders) Hairbyair Marri and Bramdagh Bugti should not take a protection in non Islamic state".

He also stated, "we are making a strong appeal to all Baloch religious scholars. They should think based on their own conscience and look it the Islamic history. Under Balochistan`s such situation, they should consider and support an independent Balochistan"..

He continued to say all Baloch religious scholars "should join with us in Jehad, they should not go along with the Defai – e - Pakistan Council because they are once again repeating the Bengladish history. According to the Allah and its prophet (PBUM) we will continue our Jehad for an independent Balochistan".

Answering to a Question about Sardar and their role in Baloch liberation movement Dr Allah Nazar Baloch said; “Hyrbyair Marri and Brahumdagh Bugti are our brothers and comrades of Baloch freedom movement.” When asked what was his opinion about Charter of Liberation Dr Baloch said that it was also a part of liberation movement and a positive step. Much of its points have been agree upon. However, it might require minor modifications and improvement.

“We are fighting to liberate a country. If the we (Baloch) have the ability to get our freedom then we also have the capability to sustain our liberation,” said Dr Allah Nazar Baloch.

He said that they would welcome voices raised against atrocities in Balochistan from Washington and Delhi. Dr Baloch made it clear that Baloch is free nation and would never accept subjugation. Talking about human rights violations Dr Baloch said both Iran and Pakistan were committing genocide of Baloch nation. Commenting on IPI (Iran-Pakistan-India) gas pipeline, he said the Baloch would oppose it even America had not objected to it.

Dr Allah Nazar Baloch also welcomed the congressional hearing of Balochistan issue in America and said that it was time all other civilised nations also support the Baloch freedom movement. He said Baloch movement was gaining momentum and the credit for the success struggle goes to Baloch Sarmachars (Freedom Fighters). “The Baloch have never accepted slavery and their struggle is not a proxy war. Washington, DC - Over the last few months, a small faction of congressmen, minority Afghan groups, Baloch nationalists, and their supporters have laid out the framework for an alternative US policy approach for Southwest Asia.

This alternative policy centres on backing remnants of the Northern Alliance and Baloch insurgents, who seek to carve out semi-autonomous territories or independent states from Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Iran.

Baloch genocide: Eight bodies of abducted Baloch found, ten Marri Baloch abducted

Occupied Balochistan: Pakistani’s atrocities against Baloch people and crimes against humanity continue unabated in occupied Balochistan. At least eight previously abducted Baloch have been killed and dumped in different areas of Balochistan whereas another ten Baloch including three children have been forcefully disappeared in past 36 hours.

Bullet-ridden and tortured bodies of Mohammad Hassan, Fateh Mohammad Marri and Abdul Rehman were found from Mongachar, Pishin and Windar areas of Balochisan respectively, on 02-03-2012. Fatesh Mohammad Marri’s identity was ascertained through a note found his pocket. Abdlul Rehman was a resident of Lakhra region of Lasbela Balochistan.

According to Dailytime, a Pakistani English language newspaper, body of another previously missing Baloch was found from Notal region of Naseerabad, Balochistan here on Saturday 03-03-2012. The body was identified as that of Abdul Gahaffar Bangulzai, a resident of Bhaagh. Abdul Ghaffar was abducted on February 13 when he was on his way to Sibi from Bhaagh.

Separately, bodies of four members of pro-freedom Baloch Republican Party were found in Pirkoh area of Dera Bugti. The victims were identified as Zahro s/o Thagiya, lanbo s/o Nohak, Mangal s/o Zahro and Rahim Bux. According central spokesperson of BRP, Sher Mohammad Bugti, the men were abducted on 1st March during a military offensive in Dera Bugti.

Earlier on 01-03-2012 Pakistani security forces raided houses of Marri Baloch people in Goharabad area of saryab region in Quetta. The brutal forces violated the sanctity of houses and harassed women and children. Seven men and three children were arrested and shifted to an unknown location. The arrested men have been named as Amir Khan S/O Gulbahar, Mir Jan S/O Amir Khan, Balak Sher S/O Amir Jan, Mohammd sher S/O Amir Jan, Lal S/O Douran (10 years old), Gull Mir S/O Douran, Hazar Khan S/O Habib Khan, Mazar Khan S/O Habib Khan, Javed S/O Habib Khan (10 years old) and Haneef S/O Habib Khan (8 years old).

All the above named victims belong to same family and are close relatives of Mir Habib Khan Marri who was killed during a similar raid on 26 March 2011 in Quetta.

It is worth mentioning that Pakistan has recently started the drama of releasing abducted Baloch activists and announced to have negotiations with Baloch leaders. One can easily judge Pakistan’s intentions behind such bogus announcement. Two innocent Baloch women killed and 3 wounded when Iranian occupying forces opened fire on a peaceful rally in Western Balochistan. The peaceful protest was organized by local women demanding basic rights.

According to details the peaceful women protest rally was going through the streets of Pashamg when the brutal forces of occupying Iranian theocratic regime showed up and opened indiscriminate fire on the participants. Two Baloch women died on the spot while 3 including 2 young children left badly wounded. Others managed to escape the firing.

More details not known as any means of communication in the area is almost nil due to very strict Mullah regime policies on its oppressed people.

It is to be noted Iranian regime's staunch attitude towards Baloch have take an extremely brutal behavior after a bill in favor of Baloch people's right of self-determination landed in US Congress a few days back. Balochistan Liberation Charter presented to Sardar Akhtar Mengal in Dubai

London/Dubai (PR): A delegation headed by Dr Mostafa (Shahsowar Baloch) called on Balochistan National Party leader, Sardar Akhtar Mengal, and presented him the Balochistan Liberation Charter for his suggestions. The delegation went to Dubai on behalf Baloch patriotic leader Hyrbyair Marri, who had telephoned Akhtar Mengal prior to sending the delegation.

The delegation met Mr Mengal on 25-02-2012 in Dubai and briefed him about the charter and the work done so far. The head of the delegation, Dr Mostafa Baloch, and BNP leader, Akhtar Mengal, discussed the current situation of Balochistan and the current rapidly changing international scenario. Akhtar Mengal told the delegation that the Charter cannot be beneficial as long as there’s lack of trust. Confidence building measures should be taken before any such documents. “Unity is must for the greater interest of Baloch people and its need of time”, Mengal said.

Replying to Akhtar Mengals views Dr Mostafa Baloch said that “We are trying confidence building and to address lack of trust through this Charter. The Charter is not just a piece of paper, it is actually our pledge and written promise with the families of Baloch martyrs and to the liberation struggle that we will carry on their mission and unite to work for the sovereignty of Baloch state.”

Dr Baloch further said that “this charter is a document which can unite us on ideological basis under an organised programme. Balochistan Marks 84th Birthday of Nawab Khair Baksh Marri

The Baloch Hal News: QUETTA: Ceremonies were held across Balochistan, including the provincial capital Quetta, on Wednesday to mark the 84th birthday of veteran Baloch nationalist leader, Nawab Khair Bakhsh Marri.

The ceremony was organized by Baloch National Voice to pay tribute to Nawab Marri who has been struggling for the emancipation of Baloch nation.

Baloch nationalist leaders paid glowing tributes to Mr. Marri whose son Balach Marri was killed some years back while resisting the Pakistani forces.

While another son of his, Nawabzada Hairbayar Marri, based in London, continues to lead the movement seeking an independent Balochistan.

Speakers at different receptions said that the philosophy of independence was the real destiny of Baloch struggle. “The struggle of Baloch nation for an independent Balochistan and its recognition at international level is the result of sacrifices rendered by Sardar Marri and other Baloch youth,” they remarked.

They said that Baloch nation would never forget atrocities and excesses meted out to them nor any trick or double standard could befool them.

Terming the national unity inevitable and need of the hour, they appealed pro-independent Balochs to shun their personal egos, likes and dislikes and scarify their personal interests for the sake of independence of Balochistan and become unite at one point of Balochistan independence.

Baloch body to hold rally on Mar 11 to draw UN attention on Balochistan disappearances

Karachi: The Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP) would reportedly hold a rally and a seminar on March 11 to draw the attention of international organisations, including the United Nations http://www.un.org/en/rights/ for conducting an inquiry into the issue of enforced disappearances in the province.

VBMP members alleged that various government agencies picked up people in the presence of witnesses.

And after some time their tortured and mutilated bodies were found at different places.

The Dawn reports.

They said the involvement of state agencies in the disappearances was clear from the fact that many missing people, about whom the government had earlier been claiming ignorance, had been brought to court.

They said they had no confidence in any commission set up by the government and would not accept their findings. They further blamd Interior Minister Rehman Malik for allegedly being behind the state agencies carrying out a deadly operation against rights-seeking Baloch people.

They said the reign of terror had increased so much so that it was being reported globally and various international agencies and countries, including the United States, had expressed concern over it and called for a just and an immediate solution to it. (ANI)

Prominent Baloch leaders: For independence of Balochistan

Dr. Allah Nazar Baloch, one of the brightest medical students who completed his medical degree with a gold medal in gynecology. A former leader of Baloch Students Organization, not a tribal figure nor does he belong to a rich family, instead as a middle class educated Baloch citizen he has grasped his nation’s suffering. In seeing the slavery through his own eyes and the occupation of his land in Pakistan, Iran and Afghanistan he became the Dr. Che for Baloch nation. His nation is proud of such a son in their soil.

Through his unwavering honesty as a Commander of Baloch Liberation Front, Baloch Dr. Che, gave his take about Balochistan in the US Congressional hearing which was held on February 8^th 2012, in Washington DC, by saying “Comrades! No nation in the world is going to give independence to any other nation. We ( Baloch) should not be any wishful thinking because one of American Congressman or Senator, or its State Department has issued a statement in our favor. And we just start cheering that our problems have been resolved.”

But, Dr. Baloch Che, acknowledged the importance of US congressional hearing about his occupied homeland he said, “From any part of the world if someone offers us a helping hand we would consider it as a good gesture. If they feel the pain of our oppression, suppression and slavery whether it’s from governmental or non-governmental level, we would consider it as good acts".

At the same time he reminded his Baloch nation "We understand our success of struggle. Its outcome is our comrade’s martyred of caravan’s sacrifices.”

Since Baloch National liberation struggle is legitimate and legal, according to the international law he stresses “However not only American, but all the rest of U.N.O. members, such as Arab League, members of ASEAN, members of African Union and from other regional small block of U.N.O we expect they will look it the Baloch issue based on our national history and our ancestral homeland to support us” he argued.

Dr. Baloch, strongly disagreeing to those who believe Balochistan issue is Pakistan’s internal affairs said “consider the Baloch issue to be an internal matter is plainly wrong, just Baloch are Muslims by religion – it is condemn-able. Because, as a nation our identity has been existed before the Islam came into existence; even it existed during the arrival of Islamic periods.”

He argued, “If the Islamic countries think that they will not support us because Pakistan is an Islamic country – it is also condemn-able.”

He gave the example of today’s Arab world “if we look at the entire Arab world it is also consists of small states, having different tribes, while base of their national or tribes they are having different states if they (Arabs) can become member of U.N.O and having relationship with each other.” He said, “Then the same way Baloch nation can become independent”. And why not “ Baloch also should make a relationship on equal bases with others.”

The prominent Baloch exiled leaders Hairbyair Marri reminded the Baloch nation “The best political party is the Balochistan National Movement (BNM), his leadership is Gulam Mohammed Baloch,…this party has principle, and similarly Baloch Students Organization Azad as a Student Organization is strictly following their principles, they are struggling for independence of Balochistan.”

The prominent Baloch leader had put tremendous effort with his entire team by charting out first time in Baloch national Struggle “Balochistan Charters “ I gave the Balochistan Charter to Khan of kalat, Sardar Akhtar Mengal and Bramdagh Bugti, after reading the Balochistan Charter they will give us their response”.

Pakistan’s negotiation offers the prominent Baloch leaders, Hairbyair Marri uncompromisingly replied “I am a Baloch and I know very well the tradition of Balochistan. Once again, President of Pakistan, included anyone who would like to meet with me I will give them respect. I offer my Balochi hospitality besides that they should not expect more than that. Because besides independence of Balochistan, I do not talk anything else with them, they should think this because my stand will never change.”

He gave his strong reason for that saying why his stand is not going to change “our thousands of workers, including children, old and women have sacrificed their lives for independence of Balochistan and now it is the time to achieve our independence. While Pakistan forcefully occupied Balochistan our all resources belong to Baloch nation we are not ready to give it to others”.

A Prominent Baloch nationalist leader, Javed Mengal, appreciated the European Union and United States whom passed a resolution in regards to Balochistan by saying "I welcome it, these are the right acts". He equally rejects Pakistan's offer of negotiations by saying, "In the past, Nawab Nowruz Khan with his fellows were brought down from the mountain in the name of negotiations then they were executed. Similarly, Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti was given the same indication of negotiations. Later, he was martyred.

He said,“I am a supporter of complete independence of Balochistan, I want independence". He stated, “Balochistan has been forcefully occupied which we do not accept such occupation by all means. Our struggle for the independence of Balochistan will continue till our last breath”. Mr. Mengal said, “our thousands of youth have been sacrificed their lives for defending our identity and traditions…we have been born free and we want freedom.”

Swiss govt urged for asylum to Baloch leader Brahamdagh Bugti

LONDON: The Baloch Republican Party’s (BRP) UK chapter organised a protest against the killing of Brahamdagh Bugti’s sister and niece in Karachi, and human rights violations in Balochistan.

The protestors urged the Swiss government to grant political asylum to Brahamdagh Bugti, the BRP leader, without any delay. There are reports that the Swiss government is not replying to the Baloch leader about his status in the country despite the fact he was taken out of Afghanistan after the United Nations intervened over fears that the young Baloch leader will be killed. Those who spoke on this occasion included Mansoor Baloch, BRP’s UK leader, Mehrab Baloch, Akbar Barakzai Baloch from Balochistan Human Rights Council and Sohaib Baloch from BSO-Azaad.

The speakers condemned the murder of Brahmdagh Bugti’s sister and niece in Karachi and said that Pakistani intelligence agencies were involved in these killings. By Josh Rogin: House Foreign Affairs Committee member Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA) has caused an uproar in Pakistan by introducing a congressional resolution calling for self-determination in the restive province of Baluchistan. But the 12-term California representative is unfazed by the criticism:

If the Pakistanis don't like it, that's their problem, he told The Cable in an interview today.

There were street protests against the resolution and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani said, "This resolution violates our sovereignty and we condemn it." A visiting U.S. congressional delegation in Islamabad had to distance itself from Rohrabacher's resolution.

"I can see why the prime minister of Pakistan wouldn't fully understand why people in various countries -- especially elected officials -- are free to comment on any policies they see fit in any country they see fit," Rohrabacher said. "That's what freedom is all about, but perhaps that's why they don't understand it."

"The purpose of the resolution was to create a much-needed dialogue about Pakistan and Baluchistan, and that's what it's done, so that's very nice," he said. "It's important to get over that phase where people are going ballistic and start getting serious discussion about an issue that's been ignored but shouldn't be ignored."

Rohrabacher said the Baluchistan issue and the human rights violations there have been ignored in Washington out of a fear of offending the Pakistani establishment, but that strategy isn't working.

"It's one of those issues that's been ignored as to not upset the Pakistanis because they are fragile friends," he said. "Well, they're not fragile friends, they are hard-core, two-faced enemies of the United States."

“America must intervene in Balochistan and stop the ethnic cleansing of Baloch people,” said Brahamdagh, 30, as reporters listened with rapt attention to his telephonic address on Wednesday at the Quetta Press Club. “We know that foreign countries have their personal interest but we must think of our greater interest.”

A resolution was introduced on February 17 by Congressman Dana Rohrabacher and co-sponsored by two other congressmen in the US House of Representatives, calling upon Pakistan to recognise the Baloch people’s right to self determination. The bill has outraged Pakistan and leaders and lawmakers have called it against the country’s sovereignty and an unwelcome intervention by the US.

Police opened indiscriminate fire on Faraz Karim and Faisal Bashir in Panjgur, on Monday night.

Occupied Balochistan, PANJGUR: Baloch poet, writer and political activist Faraz Karim received martyrdom along with his fellow Faisal Bashir when they were stopped in a Police check point in Panjgur and opened fired at.

Faraz Karim was affiliated with Baloch Republican Party (BRP), a peaceful pro-independence political party in Balochistan, as their district information secretary in Panjgur. He was a prominent Balochi language poet and a writer too.

Baloch National Movement (BNM) has strongly condemned the act calling it 'continuation of cowardly state policies' in Balochistan. The Central spokesman of BNM said Faraz Karim and Faisal Bashir were intentionally target killed by the police to bond their alliance with the Frontier Corps who are directly involved in committing worse human rights violations in Balochistan.

Also Baloch National Front (BNF), an alliance of pro-independence parties, called upon a complete shutter down protest in Panjgur on Tuesday. Baloch Students Action Committee: Members of parliaments are turning blind eyes on anti Baloch policy

Quetta: (Occupied Balochistan) Baloch Students Action Committee (BSAC) has warned all political parties and their members of parliament about anti-state Baloch policies.

Their Committee members stated their serious concern for Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering and Management Sciences (BUITEMS). Quetta has been ignored, they are strongly condemning such silence in this matter.

BUITEMS is the only institution in Balochistan in which it’s administrative, admissions and scholarship matters of Baloch students are completely side lined. In the university they are two percent. They said there are almost no Baloch teachers. In scholarship programs, they are being ignored and they feel the neo-colonial system is day by day getting stronger in Balochistan.

Baloch nation’s rights are completely ignored.

Baloch parliamentarians have been keeping their lips sealed in their issues and they are turning a blind eyes about the state’s anti-Baloch polices.

On the other hand, the remaining political parties do not display care or attention towards Baloch students because their own children are studying in Islamabad and Lahore. Therefore, they are not worried about Baloch children. Baloch nation is not going to forgive the Baloch leaders who have been silenced in such matters, whether they are inside or outside of parliament.

On the other hand, no one is willing to resolve the serious financial crisis at Balochistan University which is our national educational institution and due to this issue it is in the verge of collapse.

US Congressman tables resolution calling for independence of Baloch

Washington, D.C. – Today, Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA) introduced a House Concurrent Resolution that the Baluch nation has a historic right to self-determination. Baluchistan is currently divided between Pakistan, Iran, and Afghanistan with no sovereign rights of its own. In Pakistan especially, the Baluch people are subjected to violence and extrajudicial killing.

The bill states that the Baluch people “have the right to self-determination and to their own sovereign country; and they should be afforded the opportunity to choose their own status.”

“The Baluch, like other nations of people, have an innate right to self-determination,” says Rohrabacher. “The political and ethnic discrimination they suffer is tragic and made more so because America is financing and selling arms to their oppressors in Islamabad.”

Historically Baluchistan was an independently governed entity known as the Baluch Khanate of Kalat which came to an end after invasions from both British and Persian armies. An attempt to regain independence in 1947 was crushed by an invasion by Pakistan. Today the Baluchistan province of Pakistan is rich in natural resources but has been subjugated and exploited by Punjabi and Pashtun elites in Islamabad, leaving Baluchistan the country’s poorest province.

According to details Baloch leader Hyrbiyar Marri met Khan of kalat and presented him the copy of Balochistan Liberation Charter for suggestions. Both the leaders said that due to frustration Pakistani security forces are killing Baloch youth. In these conditions it is responsibility of Baloch leaders to unite and inform the world in a better way about state terrorism and brutalities in Balochistan.

The leaders agreed that the problem of human rights violations in Balochistan and its solution that rests in an Independent Balochistan would be raised in every forum of world. Qamber Chakar, Qayyum Baloch, Zubair Sarparah, Sami Mengal, Asmatullah Sarparah and Sangat Sana were all members of our organisation and very good friends. They are not the only ones who were killed. In fact BSO-A has lost more than 100 very active members in the last two years. The cream of Baloch society is being targeted.

It was July 2010. I was in Karachi back then for my CA. One day I received a text on my mobile phone from a Baloch friend that bullet-riddled body of missing Faizullah Baloch has been found. We couldn’t believe it. Abduction by intelligence agencies was a daily routine in Balochistan. But we couldn’t understand why they would kill him. He was in their custody, they could detain him forever but what was the point in killing him? Some of us argued that it couldn’t be agencies because why would they want to defame themselves by killing and throwing Baloch activists in such a brutal manner. But we were wrong, Faiz was the first victim of Pakistani state’s brutal terror mechanism of “kill and dump”.

The bodies kept falling and we, the Baloch activists, kept counting. In January 2011, within a span of just few months, the number of bullet-riddled bodies grew up to 70. The pile kept growing and I moved to London for further studies. Then a time came when we lost the count but the killers continued their job. 200... 300... 400... and it went on. When you live away from your motherland the love for it deepens. My day, like many other activists living in diaspora, starts with Twitter and Facebook with a prayer in mind that we don’t get news of another brutal murder. But they say nothing is on the oppressor’s side. Same is the case with us, as often our prayers go unanswered and the rest of the day is ruined. We get enraged at times and mostly cry our heart out. But the bodies keep falling and the bloodthirsty beasts pursue their quest by murdering at times eight or nine Baloch activists a day.

There is no single Baloch family who hasn’t been affected by this brutal “kill and dump” policy.

Hyrbyair meets Brahamdagh to discuss Balochistan freedom charter

LONDON: Baloch nationalist leader Nawabzada Hyrbyair Marri has called on the leader of Balochistan Republican Party (BRP) Nawabzada Brahamdagh Bugti in Switzerland to express his condolences on the murder of his sister and niece in Karachi.

According to details, on February 11, Hyrbyair Marri along with Dr Mostafa Baloch visited Brahamdagh Bugti in Geneva to condole the death of his sister and niece who were shot dead in Karachi on January 31. It must be noted that several Baloch women and children have been killed during military operations.

Hyrbyair and Dr Mostafa once again met Brahamdagh Bugti on February 12 to present him the Balochistan Freedom Charter, which is under making.

Both leaders exchanged views about the deteriorating security situation of Balochistan and other political issues. They also discussed the Freedom Charter, and Marri informed Brahamdagh about the work done so far on the charter and sought his comments and suggestions.

The Baloch leaders, while talking about the importance of the Freedom Charter, said that it would help unite Baloch people and further organise the Baloch freedom movement. Both the leaders emphasised and agreed that unity was crucial for Baloch people. They further said that the enemy is indiscriminately killing Baloch activists and doing anti-Baloch propaganda at all levels. Hence, it is important that Balochs must also unite and strengthen Baloch freedom struggle on scientific basis.

Hyrbyair and Brahamdagh said, “We need to galvanise the struggle and explain the purpose of Baloch freedom movement to international community and convince the international powers that independent Balochistan will guarantee stability in the region and peace in world. “We will have friendly relations and mutual understanding with all civilised nations,” they said.

The statement further said that Hyrbyair would soon meet other important Baloch leaders to discuss the issue of Baloch unity and freedom of Balochistan. He will also present the Freedom Charter to other Baloch leaders for their suggestions and comments. Source Daily Times

Occupied Balochistan: The brutally tortured and riddled with bullets body of a BRP leader was found today morning, on 13 February 2012, near Murghaap area of Turbat, Balochistan.

Sana Sangat, former Vice Chairperson of Baloch Student Organisation (Azad), was abducted by Pakistani intelligence agency on December 7, 2009, from Kolpure area of Bolan District, some 50 kilometres from Quetta. His whereabouts remained unknown till today.

Sangat Sana Baloch was a member of the Central Committee of Nawabzada Brahumdagh Bugti’s party, the Baloch Republican Party (BRP).

According to Eye-witnesses’ Mr Baloch’s body bore signs of extreme torture and bullet wounds. His stomach was ripped and intestines were taken out which illustrates the savageness of Pakistan’s so called Islamic army.

Baloch families rally against ‘disappearances’

Karachi: The Baloch Human Rights Organisation brought out a rally from the Arts Council of Pakistan to the Karachi Press Club on Friday afternoon and denounced forced disappearances of Baloch activists, including women and children.

“My 11-year-old sister, Madeena Baloch, has been missing since January 20, 2007,” Sazin Baloch, 21, vice chairman of the group, told The News. “We live in Kohlu in Marri area. Madeena, a pupil of Class VI, was returning home after attending her school when she went missing,” she added. “We appeal to the print and electronic media to highlight our plight so that human rights organisations and the United Nations understand our problem,” she stressed.

Farzana Majeed, 27, sister of Zakir Majeed Baloch, Vice Chairman Baloch Students Organization (Azad) said, “My brother has been missing since June 8, 2009 from Pinargi, Mastung.” She alleged that security agencies were involved in her brother’s kidnapping.

“I am an MPhil student at the department of biochemistry of the University of Balochistan but how can I concentrate on my studies when my younger brother is missing?” she said.

“PAKISTAN AS A FAILING EMPIRE”

Introductory remarks: This testimony arises from three premises

First, we cannot analyze global events through reassuring ideological lenses, be they left or right, or we will continue to be mistaken, surprised and bewildered by foreign developments. The rest of the world will neither conform to our prejudices nor behave for our convenience.

Second, focusing obsessively on short-term problems blinds us to the root causes and frequent intractability of today’s conflicts. Because we do not know history, we wave history away. Yet, the only way to understand the new world disorder is to place current developments in the context of generations and even centuries. Otherwise, we will continue to blunder through situations in which we deploy to Afghanistan to end Taliban rule, only to find ourselves, a decade later, impatient to negotiate the Taliban’s return to power.

Third, we must not be afraid to “color outside of the lines.” When it comes to foreign affairs,Washington’s political spectrum is monochromatic: timid, conformist and wrong with Breathtaking consistency. We have a Department of State that refuses to think beyond bordersCodified at Versailles nine decades ago; a Department of Defence that, faced with messianicand ethnic insurgencies, concocted its doctrine from irrelevant case studies of yesteryear’sMarxist guerrillas; and a think-tank community almost Stalinist in its rigid allegiance toTwentieth-century models of how the world should work.If we do not think innovatively, we will continue to fail ignobly.

Pakistan`s Empire and Baluchistan`s Freedom Struggle

Pakistan is not an integrated state, but a miniature empire that inherited its dysfunctional and unjust boundaries from Britain’s greater, now-defunct empire. Pakistan consists of two parts: the core Pakistan constituted by the comparatively rich and powerful provinces of Punjab and Sindh, and the territories, primarily west of the Indus River, treated as colonial possessions by the Punjabis and Sindhis. Once an observer grasps this elementary fact, Pakistan’s internal problems and our own difficulties with Islamabad come into focus. We must set aside our lazy Cold-War-era assumption that Pakistan is a necessary ally and recognize that the various insurgent movements challenging the Islamabad government a reengaged in liberation struggles against an occupier. Whether Baluchi separatists or the Pakistani Taliban, these fighters (some of them certainly distasteful to our social values) are not an isolated phenomenon—as we would prefer to believe—but simply more players in the long struggle for the devolution of power that began with the collapse of European empires. Their version of freedom may not match our criteria, but they are, nonetheless, freedom fighters on their own terms and for their own people.

Four Men, Four Women And Their Six Children Detained By Pakistan Security Froces

Occupied Balochistan: Pakistani security forces have abducted four Baloch men, four women along with six children on Friday evening.

According a statement released by Baloch Women Panel, four Baloch men, four women along with six children have been abducted by the Frontier Corps (FC) and secret agencies of Pakistan while they were travelling from Marwar to Quetta by a passenger Pickup.

The statement quoted witnesses as saying “Frontier Core (FC) has stopped the Pickup and abducted four men, four women along with their six children, the victims belong to Marri Baloch tribe. The forces have shifted all women and children to an undisclosed location and their whereabouts are still unknown.”

Terming the abduction of four Baloch women and their six children a NATIONAL TRAGEDY the BWP has urged the Baloch nation to rise against such unethical, inhuman and brutal actions of the state. The Baloch Women Panel said “today the Pakistani security forces are abducting Baloch women while they travel but if we keep silence tomorrow they will come into our houses and abduct or kill our women.”

The Women Panel statement further said that Pakistani security forces have intensified violent actions against Baloch villagers in Marwar, PeerSmail, Margat and surrounding regions after the successful attack on their check-posts by Baloch freedom fighters. The Pakistani security forces are setting houses and crops on fire, they are also looting valuable and livestock of residents. “All such brutalities and savageness of Pakistan military goes unnoticed because of the lack of media presence and the negligence of state-sponsored Pakistani media”, said the BW statement.

It must be noted that Pakistani military and other security agencies have already abducted and killed hundreds of Baloch youth under-custody and dumped their bodies in deserted areas across Balochistan. However, the recent and sudden increase in state violence against Baloch women and children illustrates the very nature of Pakistani security forces and reminds the history of Bangladesh, where in 70s Pakistan’s Islamic Army had raped and brutally killed thousands of Bengali Women.

The gruesome murder of Brahumdagh Bugti’s sister and niece, indiscriminate bombardment of villages in Kohistan Marri and Dera Bugti are clear indications that Pakistan will continue her savageness not only against Baloch men but Baloch women and children will also be indiscriminately massacred.

In recent past fanatic groups, support by Pakistan army, have splashed acid on faces of Baloch girls and female school teachers.

Toronto, 02/01/2012 – Baloch Human Rights Council (Canada) strongly condemned the cold-blooded killings of a prominent Balochistan independence leader, Brahmdagh Bugti’s sister and niece and claimed it a political murder aimed at the hardcore movement for rights and freedom. Asian Human Rights Commission: PAKISTAN: The people of Balochistan have to bury the mutilated bodies of their loved ones almost every day of the week

56 more bullet riddled bodies of disappeared persons were found in Balochistan during the last six months.....In the first month of this year 23 bullet riddled bodies of disappeared persons were found; among those six bodies have been claimed by TNAB.

The disappearances and extrajudicial killings of Baloch activists continue despite claims from the government and security forces that extrajudicial killings have been stopped. The writ of the state is at its minimal and all the responsibilities of maintaining law and order have been left with security forces and banned militant groups. A new civilian organization with the name of Tehreek-e-Nefaz-e-Aman Balochistan (TNAB) was allegedly established by the state intelligence agencies which claim the killings of political workers and students in the name of maintaining peace. During the last six months it has allegedly killed more than six activists from Balochistan and determined to continue its killings in the future.

In the first month of this year 23 bullet riddled bodies of disappeared persons were found; among those six bodies have been claimed by TNAB.

Sister of Baloch student leader urges International Community to help find her brother

By Archen Baloch: Karachi: Banok Farzana Majeed, sister of prominent student leader Zakir Majeed, talked to reporters and visitors at a hunger strike in Karachi on January 31, saying that her brother Zakir Majeed was abducted by state secret agencies along with two of his friends in Mastung on July 8th 2009.

Farzana Majeed said her brother’s friends were recovered from roadsides with fatal injuries and showing signs of having suffered severe torture.

Farzana, along with numerous relatives of abducted political workers, is currently holding a hunger strike protest in Karachi. She said she would not bow to Pakistani state pressure and will continue to seek international support for the release of her brother and other missing persons.

She lambasted the international community for its apathy towards the tragedies that the Baloch nation is experiencing at the hands of the Pakistani state.

She asked the world community to consider the condition of a mother whose son has been abducted by state agencies and who hears news daily of abducted political workers' mutilated corpses showing up in desolated areas across the length and breadth of Balochistan.

Farzana said her own grieving mother's condition is critical and she expressed her apprehensions and worries about her brother's well-being.

Farzana appealed to human rights organizations, Amnesty International and other organizations to help put pressure on Pakistan to release her brother and all missing persons.

Sister of Brahumdagh Bugti, the leader of Baloch Republican Party (BRP) niece and their driver shot dead in Karachi

KARACHI: In what seems to be an apparent target killing, wife, daughter, and driver of Balochistan MPA, Sahibzada Bakhtiar, have been murdered near Gizri Bridge in Karachi. The victims were travelling by a car baring registration number was "ANR 353" and a plaque fixed on top of license plate read "MPA Balochistan".

The unfortunate family members of Balochistan MPA were visiting Karachi to attend a marriage ceremony here, authorities told media.

Mir Bakhtiar Domki, elected form Sibbi PB as member provincial assembly, is a maternal grandson, whereas his now deceased wife was a paternal granddaughter of the late Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti and sister of Brahumdagh Bugti, the leader of Baloch Republican Party.

Domki, while talking to media, said that they [his family] do not expect justice from the government of Sindh and that all it could do was form a few judicial committees.

“They used to kill the men of our family, now they have started killing our women as well,” he said. “We have been sacrificing for our country (Balochistan), and will continue doing so.”

Even though no individual or group have accepted responsibility for the attack on Domki’s family but the Baloch activists believe that is the work of Pakistani intelligence agencies.

Occupied Balochistan: Pakistan’s military has started a brutal operation in Bugti areas of Balochistan.According to the reports Pakistan military is conducting a wide operation with the help of Gunship helicopters and fighter jets in Sui,Gopat,Pirkoh,Uch and adjacent areas.The ground troops has besieged the entire civilian population of the area.

The military indiscriminate firing on civilians,followed by the hours of shelling on villages by the gunship helicopters ,while fighter jets heavily bombarded the some parts.As a result high number of casualities reported.

Three including a woman have been killed,while more than 15 Baloch villagers critically injured.The military is not allowing the locals to shift the injured one to the hospital for an immediate medical treatment.More than two dozens houses/huts of local pesants set on fire by the barbaric army.The sources confirmed that Pakistani forces also abducted more than dozen people from different parts during the operation, and their whereabouts are still not known.

Meanwhile the Baloch Republican Party’s (BRP) central spokesman Mir Sher Mohammad Bugti said in a statement that the occupying forces have intensified military operations in Balochistan after the concerns expressed by the American State Department on genocide of the Baloch nation and human rights violations by occupying forces in Balochistan.

He said, the occupying forces have made certain areas of Balochistan including Dera Bugti, Kohlu and others no-go zones for media and human rights organizations. He said the world will know the truth of genocidal policies of occupying forces if the media is allowed to freely operate in Balochistan.

He said previously the forces conducted a similar operation in Kohistan Marri region of Balochistan where the human rights were barbarically crushed by occupying forces of Pakistan.

He appealed to the international community, European Union, International Media and Human Rights Organizations to practically intervene in Balochistan instead of mere lip service.

WASHINGTON -- President Obama is losing the war in Afghanistan to the Taliban, argued Rep. Louie Gohmert after listening to Tuesday's State of the Union address. So he proposed one way to win: create a new, friendly state within the borders of neighboring Pakistan.

"Let's talk about creating a Balochistan in the southern part of Pakistan," Gohmert told The Huffington Post

The Texas Republican took issue with Obama's assertion that "the Taliban's momentum has been broken." He said he had just visited Afghanistan and came away with a very different sense from talking to members of the Northern Alliance, a multiethnic confederation of warlords and other forces who led the U.S.-backed ouster of the Taliban in 2001.

Gohmert argued that, far from being broken, the Taliban are feeling powerful enough to demand that members of the Northern Alliance apologize before the United States leaves in 2013. "If you look at the objective facts ... they're not on the run," GohmertHis solution was first to supply more arms to the Northern Alliance. But then, he said, the Afghan border with Pakistan needs to be shored up.

"Let's talk about creating a Balochistan in the southern part of Pakistan," Gohmert told The Huffington Post, referring to a region of Pakistan that constitutes nearly half that vital if troublesome ally.

A conference with relatives of Missing Balochs

By Ahmed Khan: I am sister of Zakir Majeed Baloch a member of Baloch Student Organization. My brother whisked-away from Mastung area on 8th January 2009. We are totally unaware about our brother whereabouts, and uncertain about his life. I am unable to narrate the situations of my family members especially our Mother. Entire passed year we counted seconds in waiting of our brother returning to home and rejoining us. Now we are neither in alive nor in dead. We each moment feel very deep pain about our brother’s life, because the mutilated bodies of Balochs have been received daily wise, and after each thrown body we assume it may not be our brother’s body.

May God save him! Our entire family is enduring severe pain in severance of our brother Zakir Majeed. I plea to humanitarian organizations to come forth and perform their role for what they have been constituted and make sure safe release of Baloch Missing Persons or bring them on surface. If they committed wrong, then they must be produced before the courts for penalization according to prevailing laws, but this disappearing series must be ended.

I am sister of Sangat Sana Baloch. My brother disappeared from Dasht, Kolpure on 7th December, 2009 and till today we have no information about him. We are suffering in financial crises, because Sana was sole nurturer of our family. The disjoint of our brother made embittered lives of our entire family. During passed year 2011, we looked-for Sana Sangat and year passed but waiting string is continuing. We extremely worried about our brother’s life. We have protested more than our capacity but I am stunned why authorities do not feel our pain.

We protested in Islamabad, which is capital of state, I am sure all high level authorities like Prime Minister, President, Chief Justice and Human Rights Organizations have come to know about Missing Balochs catastrophic but they did nothing.

I don’t know why they are senseless about this matter. Sana Sangat was affiliated with a political party BRP, but his party is also unable to do anything for him. Balochistans’ politicians who are holding portfolios on provincial and federal level are keeping quite for the sake of their seats; otherwise their serious involvement in the matter could bring a positive outcome of this human issue. (While saying this she wept and was dropping tears in woe)

I am daughter of Ali Asghar Bangulzai, my father disappeared on 28th October, 2001. We are waiting for him for 10 years, but you are talking about just 2011, for 10 years we are in agony.

Our Eids and other celebrating days convert in sobbing, because on such events our father’s memories provoke our all family members. Passed year 2011, we spent looking the way of our father with this aspiration, he will come to home. We are not sure in 2012 whether our father will be released. We have requested many times to authorities and Human Rights Organizations for performing their duties and bringing our father on surface or produce him before the court, if he has any guilt. No one did anything for us and our father. Furthermore I don’t request to anyone, because I am desperate from these organizations’ performance. God! may keep our father safe. (With this invocation innocent girl became voiceless and covered her countenance with cloth-sheet to conceal her tears).

I am mother of Hafiz Saeed-ur-Rehman. My son was abducted by some unknowns from Quetta before 6 years and till to-date we are unaware about his whereabouts. We don’t know whether he is alive or dead, because dozens of dead bodies found, which were not able to be identified. We as our size protested from different platforms and lodged cases in Supreme Court, High Court, sent plea to Prime Minister and we appeared in front of judicial commission, which is formed for solving Baloch Missing Persons issue, but all efforts have gone in vain. We are looking the way of our son and anticipating our son will comeback to home and our days of mourn will finish and resume a life full with rejoices. On this occasion Chairmen VBMP (Voice for Baloch Missing Persons) Nasarullah Baloch said “the worst situations of Balochistan and in tribal environment, Baloch Women and Children played very significant role for rousing the conscious of authorities and their Baloch Leaders, too”.

He further said after killing of Ghaffar Langove and Jalil Reki, who have been killed due to this reason that their relatives were protesting for safe release of their endears.

International Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (IVBMP) was set up to campaign against abductions, enforced-disappearances and extra judicial killing of Baloch political activists by the occupying states of Pakistan and Iran.

One individual that co-operated with us in this campaign, at early days, was Mr Ahmar Mustikhan. From the very inception of IVBMP we were cautioned about the character and true intention of this individual by many Baloch who knew him more closely. Nevertheless, his collaboration with us was for a short period of time and relatively insignificant.

Though IVBMP is a non-political organisation and mainly exists to expose the human right violation and other atrocities of Pakistan and Iran, against Baloch people, on international platform. However, we do respect and recognise the political struggle of Baloch Nation against the illegal occupation of Balochistan. Mr Mustikhan lately has started a venom campaign against Baloch Human Rights activists and Political leaders. In the past also he has been involved in defaming the Baloch political leaders and activists belonging to different political parties in Balochistan and abroad and hence hurting the feelings of Baloch nation.

Therefore, we, the organising committee of IVBMP, have come to the conclusion that Mr Mustikhan has never intended to defend Baloch human and democratic rights. He has never been sincere with Baloch cause. All his activities have proven to us that he has been engaged in a pre-planned and systematic crusade to pursue the policy of repressive security forces of the occupying states.

Hereby, we announce that Mr Mustikhan is no longer affiliated with our organisation. We also warn all Human Rights Organisations, Baloch political parties and activists to be vigilant about his baseless allegations against Baloch Freedom Movement both inside and outside Balochistan.

Iran is at its weakest point in history and growing weaker. Diplomatically, Iran has no good friends in the neighborhood and is isolated and cornered. Business partner China is distancing itself, as evident from the recent visits of the Chinese premier to the Gulf countries. On its northeastern border lies Afghanistan with its foreign policy handled by the USA. Nearly all the inhabitants on Iran's borders, i.e., the Kurds, Baloch, Azerbaijanis and Arabs, are hostile to the Iranian totalitarian regime of the majority Persians and regard them as an occupying nation. Pakistan, on its eastern border, faces an insurgency and is growing weaker day-by-day.

The Balochs have never accepted the illegal occupation of their land and have fought a war with Pakistan for nearly a decade without any foreign support. They are emerging as the newest power in the region. As this balance of power shifts, the blockade of NATO supplies shows that Pakistan is not a reliable partner, nor is it in Pakistan's interest for there to be peace in Afghanistan. China has its own goals in relation to Gwadar and the coastal belt. The strategic importance of Balochistan, therefore, is now prodding the West to take note.

The Balochs have had historical relations with all of the Gulf countries. In 1783, Oman's Saiad Sultan defeated the ruler of Muscat who was given refuge by the Khan of Kalat in Gwadar. Gwadar presented to him, as a show of Baloch hospitality, Kalat's share of revenues from Gwadar until the Sultan regained Muscat. In 1895, an Iranian-influenced revolt against Sheikh Issa bin Ali of Bahrain was put down by Baloch tribes and British forces. All the seven Royals of U.A.E trusted the Baloch as their foot soldiers.

At present, it is clear that the U.A.E would not approve of a Chinese-supervised Gwadar port. Nor would Qatar like an Iranian pipeline passing through Balochistan supplying Pakistan and China with gas. While Saudia Arabia has always been a keen supporter of Pakistan, allying itself with the Pakistanis against the Soviets and inciting militancy in Pakistan by funding madrasas, Pakistan is an unpredictable friend. Saudia Arabia looks to Pakistan for nuclear security against Iran, but it forgets that Pakistan was the country supplying nuclear technology to Iran. Iran was most recently involved in the unrest in the Qateef district of Saudia Arabia. Pakistan betrayed Saudia Arabia by handing over its most valuable proxy Abdul Malik Regi of Jundallah to Iran.

A powerful and liberated Greater Balochistan would be a guarantor of peace in the region and would also best serve the interests of the Gulf. It would also encourage Iran to behave along more conciliatory lines and would end Iran's adventures in the Gulf and Arabian states. With Iran as an arch-enemy, and Pakistan on its way to disintegration, at the moment Pakistan is unable to serve the interests of the Gulf countries. Isn't it time that the intelligence agencies of the Gulf open a backdoor channel to the Baloch national movement, supporting it both against Iran and Pakistan? Balochistan Operation: Urgent Appeal To World Fact Finding Commissions To Visit

Pakistani army helicopter gunships and fighter jets bombarded several villages in Chamalang area of Kohistan Marri including Bahlul, Chajbala, Shahelcham, Khujal, Annar, Chechand and others on Monday. According to latest reports the areas are still under siege and victims are suffering from worse human crisis as the wounded are left dying without any medical help.

Baloch National Voice has called upon international community to immediately intervene and send Independent Fact Finding Commissions to visit Balochistan and investigate these human rights violations committed by Pakistani army.

Occupied Balochistan: Baloch national leader Dr Allah Nazar has welcomed American state department statement against the Human Rights abuses, the enforced disappearances, custodial and target killings of Baloch activists by Pakistan saying that it was a positive step provided it was not a pressure tactic for obtaining other objectives.

He said that so far America, international community and United Nations have refrained themselves from condemning the genocide of Baloch nation. Every rational human being knows for what reason they have compromised Balochistan human rights. After 9/11 Pakistan promised to world community that it would fight terrorism, but it was a false promise to mislead the United States and its allies into extracting money and military aid in the name of war against terrorism.

BHRC (Canada) Responds to Accusations by Ahmer Mustikhan

Toronto, Jan.-12-12 – Baloch Human Rights Council (Canada) has expressed concern over the string of emails received by BHRC office bearers in Toronto and Vancouver from Ahmer Mustikhan, a self-proclaimed journalist and resident of Washington, DC. The disturbing contents of the emails stated baseless accusations and threats to Aziz Baloch, Vice President, BHRC (Canada) and co-ordinator, International Voice for Baloch Missing Persons. In his emails, Mustikhan, founder of American Friends of Balochistan, accused Aziz Baloch of supporting a murder that took place in Balochistan (southwest province of Pakistan).

Furthermore, in his emails, Mustikhan threatened Aziz Baloch that he would report him to the Canadian authorities, police, and RCMP for his alleged support to terrorism and murdering of civilians, namely Imtiaz Ahmed of Balochistan National Party by Baloch militants in late December 2010. Rights activists and relatives of disappeared political activists in conflict-stricken Balochistan, Pakistan’s largest province in terms of area with considerable reserves of natural resources, have long been engaged in raising their voice against injustices and human rights violations — committed against the ethnic Baloch population by the military — through peaceful protests and token hunger-strike camps. Desperate faces of family members of missing Baloch activists, carrying placards in front of press clubs in Quetta, Karachi and Islamabad, have garnered very little media attention in and outside the country.

However, now it seems that these activists and family members have the right tools to amplify their voices — thus reaching to a global audience, including international rights groups and Western governments.

An organization claiming to work for the restoration of peace in Balochistan province has confessed to the killings of many activists, and has announced its intention to kill 35 more activists on its hit list in recent weeks. The organization has three activists in its custody and announces that at any time their bodies will be gifted to the nationalist movement of Balochistan. The ongoing conflict is often called Pakistan's dirty war, because of the rising numbers of people who have disappeared or have been killed on both sides.But the uprising against Pakistan's government has received little attention worldwide, in part because most eyes have been focused on the fight against the Taliban and al-Qaeda in other areas of Pakistan.
Bordering Iran and Afghanistan, Balochistan remains notorious for cross-border smuggling and has more recently been infiltrated by former members of the Taliban and al-Qaeda operatives. Few outsiders gain access or permission to travel in the region.

Al Jazeera's Ahmad Zaidan travelled to Balochistan to meet with key Balochi politicians who explain the history and current circumstances of the region and to get an exclusive interview with the leader of the Balochistan rebel movement seeking secession from Pakistan.

If the recommendations of the Hamoodur Rehman Commission had been implemented and responsible military and civilian officials duly held accountable, tried in courts and punished, citizens in Balochistan would not be facing genocide today.

Fundamental and human rights violations take place every day in Balochistan. In the past year over 300 mutilated bullet-riddled bodies of Baloch political leaders, workers, activists, students, teachers, lower grade public servants, have been dumped at desolate places or roadsides. Sectarian violence, especially targeting the Hazara Shia community (hitherto unknown in Balochistan and only in the past three years), and ethnic violence has seen an unprecedented rise. Most of these bodies are of missing persons (Baloch sources claim over 1,300 missing)

who had been abducted by the perpetrators years ago and some recently.The families of the missing persons have been demonstrating, rallying in front of the Press Clubs of Quetta and even Islamabad trying to secure some information about their whereabouts but to no avail. Hundreds of cases are pending in the Balochistan High Court but no perpetrator has so far been identified leave alone docked......

The police surgeon, Dr Baqir Shah, whose forensic examination pointed to unwarranted shooting and killing of five unarmed foreigners by Frontier Corps (FC) soldiers in the Kharotabad incident, was shot dead the other day by unknown assailants.

The Baloch, Sindhi and Pashtun children are made to read and revere Mohammad bin Qasim, Mahmud Ghaznavi, the Mughals and the heroes of Pakistani wars with India while nothing is taught about their own history, heroes or culture as if these nations had no history, no heroes, and no culture prior to August 14, 1947.

When colonisers occupy a place, as in Australia, the Americas, Balochistan, Kurdistan and Palestine, the indigenous people are dispossessed and denied their inherent rights exercised since eons. The colonists rely primarily on force; however, to ensure permanent supremacy they try to eradicate their indigenousness, culture and history. They employ the lethal tool of demographic changes to physically occupy, dominate and exploit the new land. Needless to remind that Jinnah ordered forcible annexation of Balochistan in March 1948.

Demographic changes were relentlessly attempted but the Baloch people’s resistance thwarted them. In November 2010, the Speaker of the Balochistan Assembly Aslam Bhootani disclosed that the federal government pressurised the Balochistan government to lease 70,000 acres to Arab princes. Had the Baloch not physically resisted since 1948, Balochistan would have been swamped by all and sundry. Only the fear of a backlash keeps demographic changes in abeyance.

The Baloch have decided to not to docilely accept the position that their rights have been “washed away by the tide of history” and this is exactly what they are fighting for here and in Iran. Because of the fierce determination with which they have resisted the attempts to curb their human, political, cultural, historical and economic rights, the tide of history will not be able to wash away Baloch rights. Baloch Doctors Go on Strike Against Baqir Shah’s Killing

Occupied Balochistan:The Baloch Doctors’ Forum (BDF) has strongly condemned the killing of police surgeon Dr. Baqir Shah and termed the incident as a part of the ongoing “government-sponsored cycle of targeted assaults on Baloch doctors”.

The BDF has called an emergency meeting today (Friday) and also announced a complete strike in hospitals all over Balochistan in protest against the killing of a prominent Baloch doctor.The out-patient departments (OPDs) will remain closed for an indefinite period as doctors vent anger against their colleague’s murder.

Dr. Shah is the third leading Baloch doctor to be target killed in the last three months.

The BDF spokesman said two more Baloch doctors, Dr. Din Mohammad Marri and Dr. Akbar Marri continue to remain missing after being subjected to enforced disappearance by state agencies several months back.

“The government has not brought to justice the murderers of Dr. Mazar Baloch, Dr. Naseem Baloch which clearly indicates official complicity in the targeted killings of Baloch medical professionals,” said a statement the BDF issued to the media. The statement further accused the provincial government of not taking substantial measures to investigate these killings.

“The government is a mere spectator as attacks against Baloch doctors continue. The official response has been solely restricted to newspaper statements and assurances but nothing has been done practically to punish the murders,” the statement remarked.

Pakistan’s kill and dump policy continues in Balochistan: Two more bodies found

Pakistan continues its secret dirty war in Balochistan unabated and with International immunity as mutilated bodies of two Baloch missing persons were found from Lasbella and Machh area of Balochistan here on Wednesday.

Lasbella: According to the Naib Tehsildar Ilhai Baksh, some passers-by spotted the body and informed the local administration. They rushed to the spot and the body was shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital, Uthal for post-mortem. The body was identified as 30 years old, Sikandar Ali Bugti s/o Kamalan Bugti resident of Vindar area of Lasbela. “The body was brutally tortured before the victim was killed. He received three bullets, two in his head and one in his chest.” The body was handed over to the victim’s relatives, after legal formalities.

MACH: The second bullet riddled was body found near Mach town of Balochistan. Sourced reported that the Levies force found body of an unknown person from Bibi Nani area of Mach, and shifted it to the local hospital, where he was identified as Abdul Qadir s/o Noor Mohammad, a resident of Aab-e-Gum area of Mach. Karachi—Elderly Baloch politician and former Chief Minister of Balochistan Sardar Attaullah Mengal has said The root causes of problems in Balochistan were ISI and security institutions and suggested withdrawal of army, release of missing persons and trial of those arrested on murder and kidnapping charges in court.

In an interview with Voice of Germany Sardar Attaullah Mengal said Balochs have reached point of no return as they cannot get their rights by remaining within the geographical frontiers of Pakistan and they have decided not to be part of the country.

Sardar Mengal said that Prime Minister Gilani and Mian Nawaz Sharif met him but no one has the power to stop army’s intervention in Balochistan.

He warned that if army’s intervention continued, no one would be able to stop the disintegration of Pakistan. He was of the opinion that Baloch people were receiving the same treatment which the army did to Bengalis. Daughter of missing doctor appeals for his recovery

QUETTA: Ten-year-old daughter of a missing person, Dr Din Muhammad Marri, has appealed to United Nations, international human rights organisations and others to play their role for immediate and safe recovery of her father.

Addressing a news conference at a hunger strike camp set up by Voice for Baloch Missing Persons, an organisation striving for recovery of Baloch missing persons, she said her father was picked up allegedly by security agencies on June 28, 2009, from Civil Hospital Ornach in central Balochistan.

“He was the sole breadwinner of our family and we have been facing financial problems since my father is missing. It disturbed my family and we are living under uncertainty. The discovery of mutilated bodies off and on is adding to our miseries,” she said, adding that her family presented the eyewitnesses’ statement to the judicial commission, the Balochistan High Court and the Supreme Court to no avail. “We also had a meeting with Justice Javed Iqbal in Supreme Court and he ordered the release of my father and three others: Jalil Reki, Sameer Rind and Ghaffar Langov, but all in vain. We received the bullet-riddled bodies of Ghaffar Langov, Sameer Rind and Jalil Reki, and my father is still in their custody. I am concerned about my father’s life. They will kill him,” she said.

Her family also registered a case against the Frontier Corps at Ornach Police Station, she told newsmen. She alleged that Frontier Corps and security agencies were busy in extra- judicial killings in custody, which was a violation of the fundamental human rights. www.dailytimes.com

BUJ condemns threats to journalist Hamid Mir and family of Hafeez Hasanabad

Occupied Balochistan, Dec 23: President of the Balochistan Union of Journalists Essa Tareen and its Secretary Hamadullah have condemned threats received by senior journalist and anchor Hamid Mir and family members of Hafeez Hasanabadi, a well-known columnist of Balochistan, and demanded of the military establishment to take notice of the matter.

In a press statement issued here on Friday, the president and the secretary of BUJ said that security agencies were using the same methods they had used in Balochistan to muzzle press freedom and now they had started threatening senior journalists in other parts of the country as well.

They said 20 journalists had so far been killed in Balochistan alone and more than half of them were targeted allegedly by intelligence agencies and their hand-picked militant organisations.

QUETTA: Former Balochistan chief minister and Balochistan National Party (BNP) President Sardar Akhtar Mengal on Tuesday vowed to bring the killers of Baloch people to justice on priority basis. Talking to reporters on telephone, he said participating in the general elections was not the priority of his party and he would prefer to bring the killers of Baloch youth to book by knocking the doors of the International Court of Justice in the Hague regardless of whether the killers were in uniform or in civil dress.

“The rulers believed that they will cow down the Baloch people by unleashing terror against them,” he said.

“We will never surrender to barbarism,” he said, adding that the rulers did not consider Balochs as human beings. Without an end to killing of Baloch youth in official custody and recovery of all the missing persons, there will be no chance of any talks with the people in the hills.

Even the people on the political front will not hold talks with the government leave aside the people in the hills fighting the security forces, Mengal said.

The meeting between Sardar Ataullah Mengal and Nawaz Sharif was not a big political event, he said. Sardar Mengal had welcomed his honourable guest according to the Baloch traditions, he said. The Balochistan issues could not be resolved by expressing solidarity with the Baloch people by Nawaz Sharif and other politicians, he said.

He said that the people of Punjab take to streets in protest against gas load shedding and not against the killing of innocent Baloch people in custody.
